FALL 2023

This Fall, we rediscover and reintroduce lost treasures of design history for the present generation. Reemerging trends from past decades set the mood, with playful and geometric shapes and boldness in materials: Hand-stitched bamboo, brass craftsmanship, gleaming chrome, super-smooth leathers, strokable bouclés, velvety chenilles – as well as a fresh, tactile take on seersucker.

BONJOUR PARIS

From September and throughout 2023, GUBI invites Parisians to explore GUBI’s exclusive residency at Silvera’s showroom on Boulevard Saint-Germain, bringing an extended collection of visionary furniture and landmark lighting to the French capital.

RAISONNÉ 03

Combining the mind of an engineer with the soul of an artist, Paavo Tynell was one of the greatest lighting designers and metal craftsmen of the 20th century. In GUBI’s newest publication, RAISONNÉ 03, we explore the extraordinary body of work produced over Tynell’s six-decade career.

TYNELL IN HELSINKI

Arriving in Helsinki, or departing from it, travelers are met by design masterworks from some of the greatest figures in 20th-century Finnish design. Completed in 1919, Helsinki Central Station features art nouveau architecture by Eliel Saarinen, sculpture by Emil Wikström, and lighting by Paavo Tynell.

AT HOME WITH TYNELL

A single piece of design is a snapshot of a specific moment in time. A design collection, by contrast, represents an entire story. all over the world, collectors are telling Tynell’s.

GUBI X NOAH

This season, Copenhagen-based GUBI and New York’s Noah cross the Atlantic to come together in a creative fusion of fashion and design. Inspired by a shared passion for the free and easy coastal lifestyle, the exclusive collaboration features four colourful editions of the MR01 Outdoor Lounge Chair and a five-piece capsule collection.

3DAYSOFDESIGN 2023

For 3daysofdesign 2023, GUBI presented a newly refurbished showroom featuring bold new designs and reissued classics from GamFratesi, Weisdorf, Wikkelsø, Frattini and Tynell, as well as the meeting of New York fashion and Copenhagen design in GUBI x Noah’s exclusive collaboration, inspired by the timeless allure of coastal life.

GUBI SALONE 2023

For Milan Design Week 2023, GUBI takes over the iconic Bagni Misteriosi to stage an immersive sensory spectacle. GUBI SALONE 2023 brings together cutting-edge contemporary creativity with timeless icons of 20th-century design.

TEN: BEYOND THE BEETLE

In TEN, a selected group of creatives pays homage to a chair that has cemented itself in our collective imagination. Ten personalities from the worlds of fashion, art, architecture, and music have been invited to take part in a cultural project that investigates and responds to the potential of the Beetle Chair.

UNDER THE SUN

Summer is the season of fun, freedom, and flexibility. GUBI’s SS23 Collection includes lightweight outdoor furniture and lighting that let you easily configure and reconfigure outdoor living areas to take advantage of the changing light and shade through the day, into the night, and across the season.

GUBI Raisonné 02 is an homage to the design lovers around the world and the soulful habitats they curate. Get inspired as we visit the domains of GUBI in residential and hospitality settings around the world.

SHIMON OVADIA

Shimon Ovadia sees the world through a design lens. He was born in Jerusalem and moved to Brooklyn, NYC, with his family at the age of four. Growing up, Shimon often helped his father who owned a children’s apparel company, and his childhood, no doubt, shaped his outlook and choice of career.

ALFRED BRAMSEN

Alfred Bramsen has been in love with Japan since he was a child. Alongside a strong affinity for colour, Bramsen’s love of all things Japanese is evident everywhere — from the clothes he wears, to the tones in his work and the interior design of his private habitat.

EVREN TEKINOKTAY

To Danish/Turkish visual artist Evren Tekinoktay home is a shelter from the storms, a shield against a crazy, busy, sometimes brutal world. The ambience that rules her personal terrain is warm and welcoming.

SANTA MONICA PROPER HOTEL

Fuse a 1920s Spanish colonial revival style building with a curvilinear extension and have design maven Kelly Wearstler layer the space. A beachside haven with a sophisticated sensibility is the result.

PASSALACQUA

The stunning villa on the shores of Lake Como was originally built in the 18th century for count Andrea Lucini-Passalacqua for the pleasures of love, food, friendship & the fine Italian art of dolce far niente — doing nothing & enjoying it.

TIME TO SHINE

Chrome is back. As 1980s style returns to interiors in a burst of vivid primary colors, graphic patterns, and gleaming metal, chrome is once again in the material palette. Bold and eye-catching, it brings a flash of silver and a shimmer of luxury into every space it touches.

INHABITING THE WORLD

In nature, beetles are found everywhere around the world – land and water, desert and mountain, forest and field. Like its namesake, the Beetle Chair is at home in the elements. It is a highly versatile design, with near-endless upholstery options and a wide array of textures and colors to choose from.

PINE DINING

Every restaurant in Aamann’s family of Copenhagen dining venues is unique in both menu and design, though they are all linked by a common thread: honest, high-quality materials; a warm, inviting, and comfortable atmosphere; and a distinctly Danish identity. Aamann’s Genbo creates engagingly eclectic ambience with the Daumiller armchair

GOING ALFRESCO IN BROOKLYN

In the heart of Brooklyn, at the threshold between the up-and-coming ex-industrial neighborhood of Gowanus and the leafy residential hub of Boerum Hill, something new is taking shape. Here, the design-driven development firm Tankhouse is unfolding its vision for urban housing in the area.

MAKING OF AN ICON

The Beetle Chair’s unique success as a design is rooted in its distinctive fusion of artisanal craftsmanship and technologically advanced production techniques. Like the insect that inspired it, the chair combines an almost mechanical exactitude of form with an organic, contoured softness.

GUBI is devoting this fall to the time we spend together in our homes. There is something very precious about sharing the same space – something that cannot be replicated at a distance. When we are eye to eye in each other’s presence – together, intimate, and unfiltered – we can truly connect.

In the 1970s, we went crazy for color. Bold shades, earthy tones, playful accents, gleaming neutrals – the full spectrum from subtle to striking. Now, we are in the midst of a retro renaissance, as the tones and textures of the decade’s distinctive aesthetic are en vogue all over again.

For Copenhagen Fashion Week SS23, GUBI & (di)vision got together to create a fashion-meets-furniture catwalk collaboration inspired by Francis Ford Coppola’s 1979 Vietnam war epic, Apocalypse Now.

This August, GUBI and (di)vision got together for Copenhagen Fashion Week, showcasing a fashion-meets-furniture runway collaboration built on the shared values of creativity, courage, and curiosity.

A NORDIC TOUCH

One of the most talked-about restaurants to open in the Spanish capital, Desde 1911 is a gastronomic homage to Madrid’s history as one of the great port cities – and a tribute to the family fishing heritage of its owners María Juliana Azpíroz and Evaristo García. A key element of the space is Marcel Gascoin’s C-Chair.

GUBI marked 3daysofdesign 2022 by bringing the outside in, opening the doors of the showroom for a special celebration of alfresco living. Alongside the unveiling of new furniture collections by the likes of Joe Colombo and GamFratesi

Throughout 3daysofdesign, GUBI presents a special celebration of al fresco living, as well as featuring new collections by renowned 20th-century visionaries such as Joe Colombo and contemporary de- sign duo GamFratesi.

BOHEMIAN 72 ENCHANTS NEW YORK

In collaboration with the renowned New York designer furniture store, GUBI hosts a celebration of the Bohemian 72 Collection – a family of Crespi’s designs recreated from her original drawings, now in production for the very first time.

Carefully curated and intuitively iconic. That's been the spirit of GUBI since 1967. Rediscovering the heart of historical pieces and seeing how a contemporary vibe can help us write new chapters and find harmony in the eclectic.

FASHION IN FURNITURE

Using hand-woven textiles, Camella Ehlke has brought a fresh expression to two GUBI Grace Chairs, designed by Tove Kindt-Larsen in 1936. The collaboration offers a roadmap for artfully and responsibly extending the longevity of great design, and reflects the values of creativity, courage and curiosity at the heart of GUBI.

GUBI GOES Al FRESCO

Breaking down the boundaries between inside and out, venturing into the open air with a refreshing new, all-encompassing, contextual take on outdoor design, adding new collections from archival and contemporary designers, as well as introducing outdoor versions of the existing indoor portfolio.

BOHEMIAN 72

The Bohemian 72 Collection brings together Gabriella Crespi’s interest in natural materials, her fascination with stacked sculptural forms, and her curiosity about Eastern cultures and philosophies, honed over years of travel.

FASHION FORWARD FURNITURE

This February, GUBI’s signature design vision will be on show at Copenhagen Fashion Week, thanks to an exciting collaboration with the newly launched fashion agency Blonde Studio.

JOSEFINE WINDING

We invited Danish artist and sculptor Josefine Winding to navigate the space between art and design through a series of six sculptural side tables created in collaboration with GUBI.
