CDC.1 LOUNGE CHAIR

BY CARLO DE CARLI

ELEGANT MINIMALISM

RETURNING TO THE ORIGIN

Originally released in 1950, the first edition CDC. 1 Lounge Chair was characterized by its conic legs. Now, GUBI has gone back to Carlo De Carli’s original design, embracing the slender silhouette with prolonged conic legs in metal and a curated selection of two-toned upholstery.

GRACEFUL AND POETIC

The CDC.1 Lounge Chair meets the ground in a graceful and slender way; its arms swooping like wings, giving it a sense of poetic depth, whilst carrying a strong character.

STREAMLINED FUNCTIONALISM

The CDC.1 Lounge Chair marries streamlined functionalism with playful whimsy and is well-suited for conversation and relaxation in the modern residential environment. The clean lines and neutral color palette make it easy to pair with other design silhouettes and create a classy atmosphere.

TWO-TONED UPHOLSTERY

Embracing its sculptural presence, the new edition of the CDC.1 Lounge Chair is available with separate choice of upholstery for back and front of the chair, with a wide choice of options and two pre-configured curations by GUBI.

CONTEMPORARY COMFORT

Despite the slender silhouette, the CDC.1 Lounge Chair offers an excellent seating experience. While paying close attention to the original drawings, the conic legs have been prolonged to increase seating height, reflecting the ergonomic lines of contemporary body sizes, while the seat is padded for maximum comfort.

CARLO DE CARLI

Carlo De Carli was not only an architect and designer, who made a profound impact on design in the 20th century, but also one of Italy’s leading and most respected professors, who left a fundamental mark of theoretical reflections and ethics of behavior in an entire generation of architects. A fine sense for modern material, design and industry and a willingness to experiment and invent, characterizes Carlo De Carli’s contribution to postwar architecture and design, and earned him a reputation as one of the greatest masters of Italian design.
