BEETLE & BAT EMBRACES CIRCULARITY
In a major step towards more responsible production, GUBI has redeveloped GamFratesi’s beloved designs using a recycled-plastic composite. Utilizing advanced technology and customized material blends comprising over 50% recycled plastic, GUBI has been able to make production significantly more responsible, while retaining the same quality and performance as virgin plastic. Every variant of both Beetle and Bat will now be available in the new material – a leap forward in GUBI’s journey towards phasing out virgin plastic.
Embrace the generous comfort.
A GENEROUS COMFORT
The Bat Dining Chair took its inspiration from nature – its distinctive silhouette reflects the webbed wings of a bat. To bring that idea to life in three dimensions, the chair’s oval circumference, when seen from above, has been deliberately designed as one continuous line – the front, arm, and backrest form a graphic, unbroken loop.
This harmony characterizes the form in a very particular way, meaning that the chair’s organic shape and gentle curves embrace the user in generous comfort rivalled only by the Beetle Dining Chair.
AVAILABLE INDOOR VARIANTS
EMBRACING EASE
The rounded shells of the chair embrace the sitter, making normal, active and passive postures comfortable even over long periods.Whether you're savoring a leisurely family dinner or hosting a lively gathering of friends, this chair effortlessly accommodates various postures, making it the perfect choice for prolonged dining experiences.
A STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY
The chair base was developed to maintain these proportions while offering structural integrity. Its coupling mechanism with the shell is organic in form, and the way in which its conical leg design blends with the structure under the seat reflects a branching tree – a design detail that was inspired by nature but respects a minimal and geometric aesthetic. In this way, the chairs approach the outdoor space, while preserving the qualities and values of the indoor version.
GAMFRATESI
GamFratesi has been working with GUBI since the inception of their studio and the development of the Beetle Chair. With their own dual heritage, Italian Enrico Fratesi and Danish Stine Gam share GUBI’s ability to synthesize seemingly opposing ideas – the classic and the contemporary, the intellectual and the sensual, the understated and the expressive, the manufactured and the unique. These juxtapositions, as well as the boldness and curiosity that drives their desire to find inspiration in unfamiliar territory, are epitomized in the Beetle.
