CANDLESTICKS

BY SPACE COPENHAGEN

“We love candleholders in our own home. Lit or unlit, they radiate a certain feel of coziness, which is a very Danish thing, and something we wanted to share with the world.”

A simple refined silhouette. Candlesticks is a collection of three modern candle holders by Danish design studio Space Copenhagen for GUBI.

Space Copenhagen have collaborated with GUBI to create a simple, refined silhouette that only reveals its sophisticated approach to materiality and presence on closer inspection.

Contrasting materials

With its understated silhouette, the Candlestick unifies the durable, industrial steel – used in varying heights for the body – with the dark antique brass, which creates the stable base for each one, binding the pieces together as a family.

A playful expression

A sculptural object even when not in use, the Candlestick can be used as a striking singular object or, given its three different heights, arranged in groups. Multiple Candlesticks in a long line down the center of a dining table, or in a cube formation on a windowsill, work well in formal spaces. More playful, informal arrangements, such as a cluster of the three different heights on a coffee table or just one or two on a nightstand, suit more casual environments. Start by collecting a few and add to them over time, embracing the flexibility of the design.

Bringing warmth to any space

When lit, the candle’s flickering flame and melting wax radiate coziness, bringing warmth and movement to any interior space – an intriguing juxtaposition with the heavy candlestick’s stillness and solidity.

Each piece is presented in a high-quality cardboard gift- box with a ribbon loop in the lid, to ensure that receiving one feels just as special as lighting one.

“We deliberately chose contrasting materials for the Candlestick – burnished steel and dark antique brass – and yet, as they age together, they will become united in a beautiful and magical way. The brass will become warmer and the dark steel surface will patinate to a livelier finish over time.”
