STORAGE WITH A SOUL

The spaces we inhabit are infused with our identities. The objects we choose to surround ourselves will tell stories about our lives, the memories we want to make, and the people we want to be. Created for GUBI by architect Linda Korndal’s studio, Toko Among Friends, the Keen Shelving System embodies this belief.

EVOLVES WITH YOU

Fundamental to Keen is the system’s ability to adapt and expand to suit the size of the space and meet the changing needs of the user. From compact apartments to spacious family homes, hospitality environments to workspaces, Keen can grow with the user through every stage of life, move with them from place to place, and adapt to their evolving circumstances.

PURPOSE WITH PERSONALITY

Keen’s character emerges from the bottom up. Its oversized feet ensure the shelves’ stability while lifting the frame visually from the floor, bringing a sense of animation and architectural lightness to the overall composition

INTUITIVELY ADAPTABLE

The core components of the system are vertical metal rods, three lengths of open shelf, an enclosed box shelf, feet for the bottom, and soft arches at the top. The connectors enable the unit to be extended vertically by adding more rods and shelves, with each rod piercing the shelf above through a specially engineered connector bracket.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN

The FSC®-certified black-brown stained ash is the darkest shelf option, offering a quietly confident foundation that supports both utility and visual calm, while the ALPI Sottsass Gray veneer (FSC® C176589) introduces an unexpected softness and tactile depth, with its swirling, almost fabric like patterned gray surface. For a more sculptural and modern aesthetic, cool-gray tinted-glass shelves add semi transparent layers that emphasize Keen’s structural rhythm and playful expressiveness.

LINDA KORNDAL

Born in Denmark in 1982, architect Linda Korndal founded her architecture and design studio, Toko Among Friends, in 2020. The Copenhagen-based practice specializes in the shaping of space, working at all scales, whether through architecture, interiors, or furniture design, to sculpt evocative atmospheres full of wonder and soul.

Combining an architect’s analytical approach with a designer’s appreciation of the beauty that lies in the smallest details, Korndal is driven by a curiosity about the relationship between spaces and human emotions and behaviors, the dialogue that occurs between object and observer. In this sense, every design is a character in a narrative, with a personality and vitality all its own.
