AT HOME WITH PIETER PAULIN

HABITAT

Belgian photographer and creative soul Pieter Peulen, with a background in interior and furniture design, welcomed us into his serene, light-filled home in Zonhoven where vintage treasures meet modernist form.

BALANCING ARCHITECTURE AND COMFORT

I live and work in a concrete house, a place that’s constantly evolving. I’m always searching for the perfect configuration, which means my interior changes often. Tactility plays a big role for me: the raw, pure concrete forms the base, but I like to combine it with vintage pieces that carry a history.

Home is the heart of everything for me. It’s not just where I live, but also where I work, create, and enjoy life. Over the years, my relationship with home has deepened: it has become a space that nurtures me, inspires me, and fully reflects who I am.

For me, it’s essential how an object interacts with the person using it. Comfort is key: a design should invite, support, and feel pleasant in daily use. What I appreciate in Paulin’s work is how his forms radiate softness and accessibility. The rounded shapes create warmth and friendliness, making you feel welcome. It’s not just about aesthetics, but about creating an experience that enhances daily life - a philosophy I share with him.
