Although the lamp was initially released as the LT305, its layered, petal-like form - resembling the unfolding shape of a lotus flower, soon inspired early collectors to give it the enduring nickname ‘Lotus’ - expressing the poetic resonance of the design. When illuminated, the glass becomes increasingly transparent, revealing the layered structure and bringing the floral form into sharper focus, layer by layer.
Carlo Nason (1935–2026) was born in Murano into one of its oldest glassmaking families. Over five decades he produced more than 1,000 objects, from lamps and vases to sculptural work, becoming one of the most prolific names in mid-century Italian glass. Created in 1969, the Lotus Table Lamp distills his curiosity for the material and stands as a quiet testament to Murano's craft.
