Where Emotion Becomes Architecture
At Decus Interiors, design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about atmosphere. Led by Alexandra Donohoe Church, the studio is known for creating expressive, deeply personal homes that feel as intuitive as they are refined. Patchwork House embraces the push and pull of daily life: a space that can hold both quiet mornings and spirited dinner parties, private reflection and full-house gatherings. Every detail from sculptural furnishings to moody textures was chosen to stir emotion, spark memory, and respond to the rhythms of a multi-generational household.
Soaring above the entry, the cupola sets the tone for everything that follows, expansive, calm, and full of movement. Bathed in natural light, it offers a moment of pause, a sense of arrival. It’s the architectural soul of the home.
The kitchen, dining, and living areas flow effortlessly from one to the next, forming a continuous gesture that feels open yet grounded. A dramatic marble island defines the space, paired with GUBI’s Coco Dining Chairs whose soft curves echo the home’s sculptural rhythm. More than just functional zones, these spaces are designed for gathering, hosting, and lingering with warmth, ease, and intention.
“The house needed to function for a multi-generational family while being an entertainer’s space. We embraced its boldness rather than fighting it.”
- Alexandra Donohoe Church, Decus Interiors
Tucked behind sculptural arches and lined with over 4,000 books, the library is a retreat designed for pause and presence. It’s a space you can close the doors on, curl up on the chaise, and lose track of time. The GUBI Timberline lamp casts a warm, sculptural glow, both functional and poetic, it anchors the room with quiet confidence.
