New Wooden Base for Gubi Lounge
Danish design company, Gubi are pleased to announce that their distinctive Gubi Lounge Chair and Gubi Lounge Table is now available with an elegant, wooden 4-legged base. The new Gubi Lounge will be offered in addition to the existing chrome or black painted steel sledge based versions.
Designed in 2004 by Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen of Komplot Design, just as the award-winning Gubi Chair and Gubi Stool launched one year earlier, the seat and back of the lounger are formed as one, moulded from three-dimensional veneer, the outer edges gently curved away from the body. This gives a sculptured, uncluttered, organic line to a chair that is generously proportioned, relaxed and supremely comfortable. Ground breaking technology allows the thickness of the veneer to be reduced to 5mm, which is half that normally used, so the chair is also ecologically sound and has an elegant, slender, clean-cut profile that brings a sense of lightness to any interior space.
The Gubi Lounge comes with a black stained beech, oak or American walnut shell and can be either front-padded or fully upholstered in a wide range of fabric qualities, colours and leathers. The Gubi Collection, comprises the Gubi Chair, Gubi Lounge and Gubi Stool and combines the best of old and new: traditional materials and craftsmanship and Scandinavian design values are allied with the latest technology to create unique, functional, modern pieces that complement and enhance a wide range of public and private interior spaces.
