Gubi presents New Adnet Mirrors

Following last year's reissue of French modernist icon Jacques Adnet's remarkable circular mirror, Gubi will launch another original 1950's Jacques Adnet design. Adnet Rectangulaire is also a leather trimmed mirror but rectangular in form, a contrasting yet equally striking expression of Adnet's singular design style and welcome addition to Gubi's fast growing interior accessories collection.

From the naturally tanned, full-grain aniline, hand-stitched leather frame to the equestrian-influenced oxidized brass rivets, Adnet Rectangulaire reflects the signature style and exceptional quality of Gubi's award-winning, Adnet Circulaire mirror that was launched in late autumn 2011.

Yet the deceptively simple, flexible, strap-free design creates a quite different aesthetic and can be displayed wall-mounted or freestanding, so lends itself to multiple new uses.

Adnet Rectangulaire will be available in black or tan full grain leather and 3 sizes: S (50 cm x 70 cm), M (65 cm x 110 cm), and L (70 cm x 180 cm). The new Adnet Collection will be available online at www.gubi.com and at selected retailers from January 2013.

Timeless, elegant, sophisticated and now available in an extended range of shapes and sizes, Gubi's functional, decorative Adnet mirrors will enhance a wide range of interior spaces and all manner of interior styles.

The Adnet Collection

Art Deco ‎is an eclectic artistic and design style that began in Paris in the 1920s and flourished internationally throughout the 1930s, into the World War II era.

Jacques Adnet is a furniture designer best known for his Art Deco Modernist designs and an icon of French Modernism.  Known for his avant-garde designs, Adnet was one of the first to integrate metal and glass in the structure and decoration of furniture. His style is the epitome of luxury.

In 1950, Adnet formed a partnership with the French fashion house, Hermes, where he developed a collection of leather-covered furniture and interior accessories. Accordingly, he made a round leather mirror with brass hinges. Besides the remarkable leather and brass details, the mirror is also unique as the strap that holds the mirror is in direct proportion to the dimension of the mirror.

About Jacques Adnet

Jacques Adnet (1900 - 1984) was a French architect and Art Deco Modernist designer and an icon of luxurious French Modernism. After completing his studies at the Municipal School of Design in Auxerre and the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs, Adnet established the company, JJ Adnet with his twin brother Jean. In 1925, Adnet was recognized as one of the most promising young designers at both the Salon d'Automne and Les Expositions des Arts Decoratifs. As well as designing furniture and mirrors, Adnet designed apartments and offices for numerous clients, including the French President and Unesco.
